Rupert and Albert
May 7th, 2010 by nolanoprms15
One day in St. Louis it was a peaceful Day. It was sunny and about 70 degrees, just a perfect day. All of the pools were open and all the kids were swimming and the parents relaxing. There were a lot of tourists at the St. Louis arch. All of a sudden, clouds started rolling in and they saw a bunch of minuends heading to the town. The people yelled, “Oh my gosh!” They started attacking.
They robbed a lot of stores and malls taking precious items like gold and jewelry, killed innocent people and started blowing up buildings with bombs like C4.
Everyone thought they were doomed until a man yelled “hey it is rescue Rupert”. Rupert came flying down to the people and said, “What is wrong?” They said Dr. Oz and Mr. Perry are attacking the city with there minuends. Rupert brought out his amazing ninja skills and started kicking all of the minuends but, Wacha hiya. Rupert had no mercy. He did a super ninja 360 kick and made a lot of the minuends fly. After a while he was getting out number. Rupert snaps his fingers. All of a sudden something was flying in the air. It a bird it’s a plane no it is Rupert’s sidekick dog, Amazing Albert. Rupert and Albert got back to back and started dominating all of the minuends’. Smack bam. Rupert did a pimp daddy slap to 8 minuends’. That wasn’t enough. Albert did a boiled hot dog kick and hit 4 minuends’. When they wiped out all of the minuends then Dr. Oz and Mr. Perry came to fight. (Dr. Oz) “Rupert” (Rupert) “Oz”. lets settle this. Rupert started out pretty well but was getting beat by Dr. Oz. meanwhile Albert started out bad, Mr. Perry was tuff but not tuff enough. Mr. Perry try to do a round house kick but Albert caught his foot and then did a hot dog slap right to the face know Albert was kicking Mr. Perry’s but. To finish him off Albert did a super weenie dog kick right in Mr. Perry’s face. That knocked out Mr. Perry. Rupert thought he was doomed until he bucks Dr. Oz off of him and then did a Rescue punch right to the gut, then Albert came and was flying barreled right into Dr. Oz. To finish him off Rupert sat on Mr. Oz. “we did it”. Said Rupert.
Albert and Rupert were heroes the whole town of St. Louis threw a huge party for the excellence of the heroes. The damage to St. Louis was incredible. So Rupert and Albert helped pay for the damage and helped rebuild the city. Rupert and Albert walked up to the stage and said “we are off to a city that needs help to”. The mayor called them heroes and then told them how much he thanked them; Rupert said “no need to think us we are super heroes.” Rupert and Albert flew off and then the town lives happily ever after.

KU is better than K-state
April 16th, 2010 by nolanoprms15
Dear, Kyle
I know you like K-state and I will give you they have an ok basketball team. But KU is so much better. Now I will name some reasons why you should like KU.
The first reason is that KU has a better basketball team than k-state. Most of the time when KU and K-state play each other KU usually wins. This year KU beat K-state three times, at KU, at K-state, and in the big twelve tournament. The next reason is because KU’s basketball team is ranked #1 about 23 weeks maybe less but you still get the point, even so k-state was never ranked number 1 this year. Another reason is KU won the national championship 5 times one recently in 2008 because of Mario Chalmers hit a buzzer beater right at the last second to tie up the game. The final reason why you should like KU is because KU has dominated the big 12 conference, they have one the big 12 title 6 times in a row. And just in 2010 they one the big 12 tournement.
That’s why I think you should like KU better than k-state!
Sincerely, Nolan

Minnesota and Kansas

Minnesota & Kansas
This summer I went to Minnesota. I have learned that Kansas is different from Minnesota. And sometimes the Minnesota and Kansas are the same.
I think they are different because Minnesota is really BIG, and Kansas is small. Also Minnesota has a lot of lakes but Kansas doesn’t. Also Kansas has two NCAAMB teams that are ranked in the top five. Minnesota has a NBA team. Kansas doesn’t. it is mild in Kansas but in Minnesota it is mostly cold. Also Minnesota is the state know for all of there lakes. Kansas doesn’t have as much. Kansas is flat and Minnesota is not as flat.
These are some of the ways Kansas and Minnesota are different but they can also be alike.
Minnesota and Kansas are in the United States. They also are in the middle part of the United States. The last thing that if you go there you can have an enjoyable time.
Well thanks for reading. You can see they are different and the same.

January 22nd, 2010 by nolanoprms15
Every weekend is a fun weekend because you can relax and you don’t have to go to school. Well I am going to tell you about what I do every weekend.
Every weekend I go to my uncle’s house. We go there because my uncle has a baby girl. And her name is Alexa. She is just a year old.
Usually my family, cousins, uncles, aunts, and grandparent go there. I like going to my uncle’s house because it is fun and I like to play with my brother and cousins. Usually me my cousins and my brother usually play are Xbox 360 or watch TV. While my sister, mom, dad, aunts, uncles, grandma, and grandpa play card games. Most of the times they can’t get Alexa to sleep. But most of the time they do. I like stay there because we get there at 6:00pm and we leave at like 1:00am. And I get to drink a lot of pop and we get to eat a lot of food because everybody that comes brings food. We eat around 12:00am.
I have a lot of fun going to my uncles! I wish I could go there everyday!

My future self
January 15th, 2010 by nolanoprms15
My future self
First I see myself playing football and basketball in middle school. I think I am going to get grades good enough to get me by.
After grade school I am going to go into high school and probably play football there and basketball. I am going to try to take classes that prepare me for engineering.
Then I see my self getting a scholarship at USC playing football.
I probably don’t see myself going to the NFL so I am probably going to major in engineering. I don’t really have a specific building I want to build but I will probably figure that out. I am going to try to get a bachelors degree.
Finally after I graduate from collage I am going to start my job. I probably am going to have to prepare myself by getting good at math because engineering takes a lot of math. Maybe later on in life I will make my own engineering company.

December 17th, 2009 by nolanoprms15
1. Why was Brian nervous about the coming of winter?
because the winter is cold and harsh and it is hard to live in.
2. If Betty hadn’t come to Brian’s rescue during the bear’s visit, what might have happened?
Brian would of died from the bear scratching him and killing him.
3. Based on what you know about the outdoors, do the events in this story seem believable? Explain.
yes but i don’t really think a bear would attack you out of no where.
4. What theme does the relationship between Brian and Betty suggest?
Friendship never goes away and your friends are always there to help you.
5. Write a paragraph that describes what Brian’s actions in the wilderness reveal about his character. Use details from the story to support your answer.
i think brian is pretty smart if he can survive in the wilderness. he also makes friends with things that humans usual dont have as a friend. another reason that he is smart because he can make a bow and arrows.

The Bloody battle of the Persian wars

The Bloody Battle of the Persian Wars
A long time ago even before Jesus was born there used to be ancient civilization. It is hard to believe but it is true. in this story we will tell you about this great war that happen a long time ago.
Along time ago about 800bc a city state called Greece was filling up. A lot of people were out of jobs. so people were moving west and east to try to find a home in a city or city-state that is not as packed. One settlement was on the eastern side of the Aegean Sea. The Greeks living there did not like the Persian. Because the Persian were trying to tax the city-state. the Persian king (Darius 1) sent advisor to Greece.
Darius 1 was born in 521BC. He was the son of Hystaspes. He had a wife named Atossa. And a son named Xerxes. He is famous for his inscriptions he wrote. The most famous one he wrote was the inscriptions of Behistun. in which relates how he ganged power and became king and put down the rebellions. Darius 1 belonged to a younger branch of royal family of the Arhaemenidae. After Cambyses committed suicide on march 521BC. The empire was ruled under the name of bardiya (son of Cyrus). Darius 1 tried to regain the kingdom so he could be crowed the king. he killed the usurper in a median fortress (October 521BC) he became the king of Persia. But this sudden change was the signal to regain there independence for an attempt on the part of all the eastern providences with only a tiny army of Persians and Medes and Darius and a hand full of loyal generals overcame all difficulties. And in 520 and 519 all the rebellions were put down (Babylon rebelled twice, Susiana even three times), and the authority of Darius was established throughout the empire. . Darius appears as a fervent believer in the true religion of Zoroaster in his inscription. But he is also a outstanding statesmen and organizer. Darius made the Persian dominion bigger by adding the wild nations of the Pontiac Armenian Mountains to the Caucasus. He became the successor of Cyrus the Great by the organization of the empire. He sent an expedition down the Kabul and the Indus, led by the Carina captain Scylax of Caryanda, who explored the Indian Ocean from the mouth of the Indus to Suez. He dug a canal from the Nile to Suez. his ships sailed from the Nile through the Red Sea by Saba to Persia. he explored the shores of Sicily and Italy. He attempted to gain the goodwill of the subject nations by letting the Jews build the temple of Jerusalem and his name appears on the temples he built in Memphis, and Edfu and the Great Oasis. He called the high-priest of Saïs, Uzahor, to Susa. He gave him full power to reorganize the Great medical school of the temple of Sais. In the Egyptian traditions he is considered as one of the great benefactors and lawgivers of the country. About 512 Darius undertook a war against the Scythians. The Persian wars were begun by the Greeks themselves. The support of the Athens helped the Greeks. But the first expedition that of Mardonius, failed on the cliffs of Mt. Athos (492), and the army which was led into Attica by Darius in 490 was beaten at Marathon. Before Darius had finished his preparations for a third expedition an insurrection broke out in Egypt (486). In the next year Darius died, probably in October 485, after a reign of thirty-six years. He is one of the greatest rulers the east has produced.
The Athens and Spartans didn’t put up with that rule. They killed the advisors. War broke over this rule. The first invasion took place in 490BC. The Persian king at the time was Darius 1. He wanted to conquer everybody that he met. so Darius 1 sent his army to marathon to fight the Greeks. (marathon is a beach 26 miles east of Athens.) The Persian lost this battle. a runner was sent to Athens to tell that they beat the Persian. Persian went home short of supplies with their heads bowed down in defeat.
The second invasion of Greece happened in 480 BC. Xerxes was the king of Persia at that time.
Xerxes was born in Persia in 519BC. He was the son of Darius 1. Xerxes I was king of Persia from 485 – 465 B.C., presiding over ancient Persia’s decline from mighty power to falling empire. His father Darius`1 was defeated at marathon by the Greeks. (490 B.C.), and 10 years later Xerxes created a huge army to ambush Greece and get revenge from his father’s defeat. Xerxes crossed the Hellespont and methodically killed the Greece. He won a close victory at Thermopylae — the famous battle which ended with 300 Spartan warriors holding of the entire Persian army in a last battle to the death — and finally the Persian reached Athens and ransacked the deserted city. But the invasion ended in disaster when the Persian navy was demolished by the Greek fleet at Salamis (480 B.C.). Xerxes retreated to his palace in Persepolis; Xerxes abandoned his army which was defeated by the Greeks shortly thereafter. Persia remained a powerful nation but Xerxes withdrew from king , devoting himself to what Herodotus. 15 years later Xerxes was probably killed by Arabians and Xerxes son Artaxerxes took the crown.
At that war Xerxes gathered a vast army. Xerxes army attacked the Greeks at Thermopylae.Leonidas had a army of three hundred Spartans at the leadership of Leonia. Leonidases army fought until the last Greek fell.
Leonidas was a 5th century B.C. Spartan military king who bravely led a small fleet of Greeks — mostly Spartan (the famous 300), but also Thespians and Thebans — against the much larger Persian army of Xerxes, at the pass of Thermopylae, in 480 B.C. during the Persian Wars. According to Herodotus, Leonidas had been warned by the Delphic oracle that either Sparta would be crushed or their king would lose his life. Leonidas chose the other way.
All the Spartans and Thespians died, including Leonidas, although Herodotus says the Thebans had never wanted to be there and surrendered when Leonidas was killed. The Persian cut up the remains of Leonidases body.
Then Persian headed to Athens. The Athens couldn’t confront the vast army so they left the city of Athens. When the Persians arrived at Athens they ransacked the city and burned it down. After that it was demolished. With the help of the Athens general Themistocles the Persians were finally defeated by the Greeks in a violent sea battle. Themistocles was the general at that time. He convinces the Athena’s to spend the miners silver to build a fleet of triremes. 200 ships were built. It was a big accomplishment for the Greeks. Athens and Sparta worked together to beat the Persian once and for all. The Persian Wars lasted for twenty years. The Persian and the Greeks never fought again.
